How to Download Facebook Reels on Android

Facebook Reels don't come with a built-in "Save video" option the way regular posts sometimes do, so most people end up screen-recording them — which costs quality and leaves the Facebook UI in the frame. Here's a cleaner way to save a Reel as a real MP4 file, directly to your Android device.

What you'll need

• An Android phone running Android 7.0 or later
• The link to a public Facebook Reel
• The FB Video Downloader app (free, no account required)

Step 1: Copy the Reel link

Open the Facebook app and find the Reel you want to save. Tap the share icon underneath it, then choose Copy Link. You can also copy the URL straight from your browser's address bar if you're watching on facebook.com.

Step 2: Paste it into FB Video Downloader

Open FB Video Downloader, paste the link into the input field, and tap Get Video Links. The app fetches the direct video stream in a couple of seconds.

Step 3: Choose a quality and download

You'll see HD and SD options. Pick HD for the best quality or SD to save space, then tap Download. The Reel is saved as an MP4 through Android's system Download Manager, so you'll find it in your Files app or Downloads folder — no watermark, no re-encoding.

Does this work for FB Shorts too?

Yes. Facebook Shorts use the same underlying video format as Reels, so the exact same steps apply — copy the share link, paste it, download the MP4.

A note on privacy

This only works with publicly shared Reels. Content restricted to friends or a specific audience can't be accessed without logging in, and FB Video Downloader never asks for your Facebook credentials.
